Oiseau de terre Bonin

Bonin earthbird est une espèce d'oiseau éteinte de la famille des merles. Il est parfois placé dans le genre monotypique Cichlopasser. A vécu sur l'île de Chichijima. Les oiseaux ont peut-être niché sur le sol. Cinq exemplaires sont conservés dans les musées, dont deux au Musée zoologique de Saint-Pétersbourg.

1. Extinction

En 1827, l'expédition de Beachy n'a trouvé aucune espèce. En 1828, Kittlitz a recueilli cinq individus, devenant le seul naturaliste à observer l'espèce. Éteint, peut-être peu après 1830 en raison de la prédation par des espèces de mammifères introduites et de la perte d'habitat
